Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008
Grace period for new legal requirements ends 1st July 2009
New Fire Regulations came into effect on 1st July 2008. There is a grace period to enable all businesses to comply with these new regulations, however to avoid last minute issues it is; suggested that you commence the implementation of the new requirements as soon as possible.
A Fire Safety Adviser (FSA) is required to be appointed and trained for High Occupancy buildings as defined by the Act. This will include most licensed venues. To find out if you need to appoint a FSA, check out our Fact Sheet.
What is a FSA?
An FSA is a person who holds a building fire safety qualification for an approved building fire safety course issued within the last 3 years. An FSA does not have to be a member of the staff.
The Academy and Fire Training Professionals offer the following FSA option: You can have us appointed as your FSA for a low monthly fee and take all the worry out of training, down-time and the expense taken out of the way. This also alleviates the need to train more staff due to staff turnover.
